Life during the Russian Revolution and Civil War

Be born in a place it hit, a few years before it began, and see what it did to five ordinary lives.

What it meant for ordinary people

The 1917 revolutions brought the Bolsheviks to power, followed by a civil war, terror on both sides and the seizure of grain from villages. Typhus and the 1921 famine killed more people than the fighting; about a million or more emigrated.

Deaths: about 7–12 million, mostly civilians, from fighting, terror, typhus and the 1921 famine.

How hard it hits each person in the game (risk of death, of being conscripted, of leaving) comes from scholarly estimates.
