Life during the Mexican Revolution

Be born in a place it hit, a few years before it began, and see what it did to five ordinary lives.

What it meant for ordinary people

The fall of Porfirio Díaz led to a decade of civil war among revolutionary armies. Combat, hunger, epidemics and the 1918 flu killed a large share of the population, and hundreds of thousands fled north. It produced the 1917 Constitution and land reform.

Deaths: about 1 million to 2 million lives lost, including deaths from disease and hunger.

How hard it hits each person in the game (risk of death, of being conscripted, of leaving) comes from scholarly estimates.
