Life during the Armenian genocide

Be born in a place it hit, a few years before it began, and see what it did to five ordinary lives.

What it meant for ordinary people

From 1915 the Ottoman government deported and killed most of the Armenian population of Anatolia through massacres and death marches into the Syrian desert. Survivors scattered to Syria, Lebanon and beyond; Turkey still disputes the term genocide.

Deaths: about 600,000 to 1.2 million Armenians, with Assyrians and Greeks also killed.

How hard it hits each person in the game (risk of death, of being conscripted, of leaving) comes from scholarly estimates.
