Life during the January Uprising

Be born in a place it hit, a few years before it began, and see what it did to five ordinary lives.

What it meant for ordinary people

Poles and Lithuanians rose against Russian rule in January 1863, set off by a forced draft into the Russian army. The rising was crushed over eighteen months; tens of thousands were exiled to Siberia, estates were confiscated, and Russification followed.

How hard it hits each person in the game (risk of death, of being conscripted, of leaving) comes from our model, estimated from the sources.
