1000–1200
Life during the Polynesian settlement of Hawaii
Be born in a place it hit, a few years before it began, and see what it did to five ordinary lives.
What it meant for ordinary people
Polynesian voyagers from the Society or Marquesas Islands reached Hawaii, probably around 1000 to 1200 on recent radiocarbon dates. They brought taro, sweet potato, pigs, dogs and chickens in double-hulled canoes. Voyaging between Hawaii and Tahiti continued for some generations, then stopped.
How hard it hits each person in the game (risk of death, of being conscripted, of leaving) comes from archaeology.
