Life during the Chola expansion
Be born in a place it hit, a few years before it began, and see what it did to five ordinary lives.
What it meant for ordinary people
Under Rajaraja I and Rajendra I the Chola kingdom of Tamil Nadu conquered Sri Lanka and much of southern India, marched to the Ganges and raided Srivijaya in Sumatra in 1025. It built great temples such as Thanjavur. Village assemblies and merchant guilds were active, and many records survive carved in stone.
Deaths: unknown.
How hard it hits each person in the game (risk of death, of being conscripted, of leaving) comes from our model, estimated from the sources.
