184–205
Life during the Yellow Turban Rebellion
Be born in a place it hit, a few years before it began, and see what it did to five ordinary lives.
What it meant for ordinary people
A religious peasant rising in 184 shook the Han dynasty. It was put down within a year, but the generals who crushed it became warlords, and northern China fell into decades of war. Many farmers fled, died or became tenants of armed landlords.
Deaths: unknown; hundreds of thousands in the fighting and the famines that followed.
How hard it hits each person in the game (risk of death, of being conscripted, of leaving) comes from our model, estimated from the sources.
